Αν και η ακριβής προέλευση του Oktoberfest δεν είναι σαφής, πιστεύεται ότι χρονολογείται από το 1810, όταν διοργανώθηκε για πρώτη φορά για να γιορτάσει τον γάμο του διαδόχου Λουδοβίκου και της πριγκίπισσας Τερέζας του Σαξ-Χίλντμπουργκχάουζεν. Σήμερα, το Oktoberfest γιορτάζεται με μια τεράστια ποικιλία παραδοσιακών γερμανικών φαγητών και ποτών, καθώς και με άφθονη ζωντανή μουσική και ψυχαγωγία.
